Getting Into The Solid Waste Collection Business Femi Abolade | April 19, 2017 | We are professionals and I wouldn't want to stand defining what solid waste is. But we know that it is that waste which is not free flowing. Examples include waste paper, polythene, wood, garbages, glass, rags and so on. One of the major problem we have in every nook and cranny of the Nation is the issue of waste collection and disposal. We may talk about Recycling, sometimes later, but for now, I will limit this seminar to solving the problem of waste disposal. Let me tell you that you are not the only person repulsed by the indiscriminate disposal of refuse everywhere. Members of the public are also not comfortable with this problem. They are waiting for somebody to solve that problem. They are actually WAITING FOR YOU TO ACT! What are you supposed to do? Help them collect it and disposed it of course! The next question that comes to our minds is how do I fund it. But I tell you

CLOSING ORDER! - A Short Story (2) By Femi Abolade Continued from last week In case you missed the part 1 of this interesting short story, you can read it here http://femiabolade.blogspot.com.ng/2017/04/closing-order-short-story.html O ya, let's go there..... ******************* On number 15 Tekobo street, stood an old one-story building. Taju, the junior health attendant covered his nose immediately they entered the house as junks of various sizes and categories filled the floor of the passage. He was quickly cautioned by Wole, who, even though had pe

He was stout, pot-bellied and as dark as the devil himself. The young man, dressed in the complete regalia of white jacket over brown trouser, two star epaulette, a shining kumquats with a laced brown pair of boots. His brown beret sat gracefully on his head with the National crest beautifully placed on it tilted to the left, he released a smirk. His name tag read Oluwole Adewole, Environmental Health Officer. Wole looked at the dirty man standing before him, they look world apart. One from a clean heaven while the other representing no ot

Migingo, The Most Densely Populated Island in the World Femi Abolade | April 3, 2017 | 7.50am Migingo, a tiny rock island on Lake Victoria, in Kenya, measures just 0.49 acres, but is officially home to 131 residents – although some sources put the population at around 1,000 – making it the most densely populated island in the world. The so-called “Iron Clad Island” of Migingo (after the metal shack shanty town covering it almost entirely) has a very unclear history. According to some accounts, it was originally settled by two Kenyan fishermen, Dalmas Tembo and George Kibebe, who came here in 1991 and laid the foundation of today’s community. Others say that it was a Ugandan, Joseph Unsubuga, who came here first and then brought more of his fishing friends. It was this kind of contradicting stories, and the battle over the island’s fish-rich waters that created a long-standing conflict over the ownership of Migingo between Kenya and neighboring Uganda. Migingo is technically
