AKURE THEMATIC LESSONS (2): Remita Reminiscence

AKURE THEMATIC LESSONS (2): Remita Reminiscence

For many EHOs, the last Thematic MCEP held in Akure was synonymous with unnecessary stress, spurious anger, frustrating moments and great displeasure. This does not, in no way, robb it off its many positives.

On Monday when the programme officially commenced, many officers could not register for the thematic. Many had come with the mindset that they would pay through the traditional means of bank account or POS, but that idea had been jettisoned a very long time ago.

This, we must agree isn't entirely the fault of EHORECON, but laxity on our side as respectable officers. Letters and text messages sent to officers had stipulated the means of payment of all fees to the Council.

It is no longer news that the Federal Government of Nigeria had adopted the Treasury Single Account (TSA) for all MDAs. And the only platform for such as at today is REMITA. Therefore, we can't claim to be ignorant about such wide spread information.

But unfortunately, the network jammed as many people were trying hard to generate their Remita Retrieval Reference Number leading to clogging. As a result, finance officers were compelled to accept cash and pay in bulk to the TSA.

Lessons learnt!

While attending future Thematic MCEP, ensure that you generate your RRR and pay to the nearest bank before you get to the programme venue. This will relieve you of unnecessary stress, anger and frustration.

For those who are yet to get the payment method, you can follow the steps highlighted below.

1. Go to www.remita.net
2. Click on the box "pay Federal Government Agency"
3. A form will be displayed which you need to fill appropriately.
4. First on the form is the MDA you wish to pay to.
5. Type Environmental Health and it will display EHORECON in full at the top of the list of Agencies.
6. Fill in what you want to pay for - Thematic/MCEP, Registration, Licence/Permits etc.
7. Fill in other details as requested therein.
8. Then click "Proceed to payment"
9. The next page to be shown will reveal your RRR code.
10. Take this code to any bank and use it to pay the amount filled online.

Note: It has been noticed that the banks that usually collect Remita payments are
Access Bank
Zenith Bank
First Bank
Heritage Bank and
UBA

I sincerely hope and pray that the blues of the Remita reminisce, as experienced in Akure won't play out itself again.

For comments, questions and complaints, the lines are opened.
