AKURE THEMATIC LESSONS (3): Little Efforts Matter

AKURE THEMATIC LESSONS (3): Little Efforts Matter

Femi Abolade | May 4, 2017

A lot of lessons were learnt at the just concluded thematic MCEP in Akure. If you were there, I guess you should have learnt that too. Even though many participants were busy buying T-shirts, inner briefs, and other sorts, yet so many others sat down attentively listening to the lectures. That's not where this write-up is tuned to anyway.

Attending the last Thematic MCEP taught me that little efforts matter, no matter what, where or when. Sometimes, what we do may not attract the greatest accolades we expect, or the greatest encomium we covet, or the continuous encouragement we think we deserve. But just like the man fetching water and pouring it into the big container, no effect is seen even though the effort is much. One day though, just a pouring will cause an overflowing.

On Tuesday at the programme, there was a consultative forum with the Council Registrar, Dr Abonyi Dominic. Several questions and observation were raised and were answered by the Registrar.

As usual, I was there to ask myriads of questions and reveal my observations about the programme. When it was time to answer the questions, I knew my blog was a number one priority to the Registrar.

For all his answers, Dr. Abonyi Dominic always refers to Wolewole.com as a positive in the Environmental health profession. Sincerely speaking, I was flabbergasted positively.

He spoke glowingly of this blog using it as a point of reference for others who want to do something extraordinary to be relevant. It was an encouraging moment for me.

When I started Wolewole.com in January 2017, it was one of the three things I trusted God to help me begin this year. It has been God all the way, but efforts have been put in place to ensure that the news and articles keep coming.

Initially, the effort seemed unappreciated, unnoticed and unnecessary, but four months down the line, Wolewole.com has proved that Little Efforts Really Matter.

After that day's session, many Sanitarians approached me to ask several questions. It was a wonderfully, encouraging time for me.

Lesson learnt!

Whatever you desire to do, do it now and do it to the best of your ability. It may look unappreciated today, one day very soon, you will be celebrated. Just keep on keeping on. Whatever you do today is a seed being sowed for the future glory.

Also, many of my senior colleagues showered serious prayers on me after the Thematic programme. I began to wonder why. But sincerely, the little efforts offered in helping them to generate Remita code, pay in the bank, answer questions, explain issues, listen to their complaints etc, also pays.

So dearest, please do remember that little efforts matter. Put in that effort, no matter how little and one day the world will celebrate you.

For comments, questions and complaints, the lines are opened.
